Cleanse your face with a gentle cleanser
Youβll want to cleanse your face gently immediately after dermaplaning. A gentle cleanser will remove any debris or residue left behind on the skinβs surface. Avoid using harsh or abrasive cleansers, which can irritate the skin.
Apply a hydrating serum or face oil
Dermaplaning can leave your skin feeling a bit dry and sensitive. To combat this, apply a hydrating serum or face oil to help nourish and protect the skin.
After your treatment, follow a simple skincare routine.
For two weeks following your treatment, stick to a simple skincare routine. That means using a gentle cleanser, hydrating serum or face oil, and sunscreen every day. Avoid any other treatments or products that could irritate the skin.
Use SPF
Itβs important to use sunscreen after dermaplaning since your skin will be more sensitive to the sunβs harmful rays. Choose a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher and apply it every day, even if youβre just spending time indoors.
Do not wear any makeup for 24 hours.
Youβll want to avoid wearing makeup for at least 24 hours after dermaplaning. This will give your skin time to heal and recover from the treatment.
Avoid touching your face.
Touching your face can introduce bacteria to the skin and cause irritation. So, itβs best to avoid touching your face as much as possible after dermaplaning.
Avoid using harsh skincare products.
Harsh skincare products, such as retinoids or glycolic acids, can irritate the skin after dermaplaning. If you use these products, wait at least a day or two before using them again after your treatment.
Avoid chlorine and swimming pools.
Chlorinated water can dry out and irritate the skin. So, itβs best to avoid swimming in pools or other bodies of chlorinated water for at least 24 hours after dermaplaning. You can shower normally after your treatment.
Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated
Drinking plenty of water helps to keep your skin hydrated from the inside out. This is especially important after dermaplaning since your skin will be more prone to dryness.
Get plenty of rest and relaxation.
Taking some time to relax and de-stress can do wonders for your skin. Consider taking a relaxing bath or reading a good book to help your skin recover from dermaplaning.
How it works
Dermaplaning works by gently and safely gliding a specialised surgical blade at a 45Β° angle across the skin to exfoliate the skinβs surface. Our trained dermal experts will sweep the blade across the desired areas, to effectively exfoliate dead skin cells, remove fine hair and take away the very top congested layers of the skin. Removing this unwanted debris will reveal new, fresh skin layers, resulting in softer and more radiant looking skin.
Dermaplaning is suitable for all skin phototypes, treatments are quick with no downtime following and results are instant. We recommend ongoing treatments every 3-4 weeks as fine hair begins to regrow andΒ congestion starts to show again.
Optimise your results
Dermaplaning treatments are quick with instant visible results and no downtime following. For best results, we recommend ongoingΒ skin treatments every 3-4 weeks or as fine hairs and congestion start to show again.

This can lead to the appearance of thicker, smoother, and faster growing hair as the hair follicles are unclogged and can grow without interruption.

Frequently asked questions about Dermaplaning
We recommend ongoing treatments of dermaplaning every 2-3 weeks as vellus hairs start to regrow.Β For exfoliation and removing dead skin cells we suggest treatments every 4 weeks.
Dermaplaning is suitable for all skin types and is most suited to clients who have dull, lackluster skin with the appearance of fine vellus hairs. Itβs also safe for pregnant and breastfeeding mums.
No. Dermaplaning is a great treatment for exfoliating the skin and achieving a glowing, smooth and radiant appearance.
No. Dermaplaning works by gliding with your hair growth rather than against it.Β By doing this we are able to remove fine vellus hair and debris from the skin without stimulating or encouraging thicker or darker hair to regrow.Β Hair will regrow similarly to what you had previously.
Both treatments are effective at exfoliating the skin.Β Where dermaplaning uses a handheld blade to remove dead skin cells, microdermabrasion uses a small machine that provides a diamond tip exfoliation and suction at the same time.Β Microdermabrasion is a more intensive exfoliating treatment and is more effective where a deeper clean is desired.Β Microdermabrasion however is unable to remove vellus hair and therefore cannot achieve the same smooth hairless result that dermaplaning provides.
